Finally, I managed to get another go on another of my favourite fenland rivers, the River Lark.
I always try and visit this every summer to have go after the tench. This holds some beautiful fish, if you can find them.
I arrived at the crack of dawn to my favourite swim, which always seems to produce.
The river had a flow to it, and the EA had been through with there weed cuter boats, and there was alot of debris floating down, and it was proving to be hard work. All I could do was scrape a few perch and skimmers. The feed just was’nt attractingthe fish, due to the flow. I eventually gave up on the cage feeder and moved over to a blockend groundbait feeder. After searching the area and finding a hole, I was eventually starting to get the bites, and a slightly better stamp of fish, and eventually the rod hooped round and my first tench showed itself. I also got snapped up, but still was catching the fish, then about mid afternoon another huge tench graced the net.
Overall a great day, and nice to see some quality fish again.
Nice. I’ve found one swim that produces perch after perch, one up from the EA sign.
