Saturday July 16th – Land Drain

Visit to the coast planned for Sunday, so only had a few hours. Wanted to try for another favourite summer species of mine, the rudd.

I visit this drain a lot in the winter for the pike, but not actually tried it in the summer.

I had a look down there the previous week, and could see plenty of fish topping including some rather large looking fish. Had a feeling, that these were rudd.

I returned armed with a float setup and some bread. Found a spot, and it was teaming with fish. Perch chasing the fry, fish topping everywhere. After throwing some crushed bread out, I started to get the bites. I started catching some nice rudd, but nothing special on this occasion, as ran out of time.

I also got snapped up by something, so I am feeling positive the bigger ones are there. Returning one evening, later in the week for another go.
