Tuesday 27th May – Mepal Block Fen A

Went back down to Block Fen A for an evening session. Very wet and miserable, but able to keep dry and had the lake to ourselves. Very slow to start off with, but when there was a lull in the rain a big fish rolled in the area of my bait then a few minutes later, the bait runner just screeched into action along with the buzzer. The silence of the lake was broken. After a five minute scrap, the fish graced into the net. An immaculate 12ib Common. A special fish for me for two reasons. First double of the year for me and on a bait  I have never used before. It was called Old Ghost blood worm bait sausage. Will be trying this on the harder waters out there, and maybe in the drains. Overall a cracking evening despite the weather, hoping to get back next week for another evening session.
